The Boxer

The Boxer's most notable characteristic is his desire for human affection. Though his spirited bearing, square jaw, and cleanly muscled body suggest the well-conditioned middleweight athlete of dogdom, the Boxer is happiest when he is with people--especially children, watching protectively over their play. His short smooth coat, handsome chiseled head, and striking silhouette never fail to excite comments from passersby as he trots jauntily by your side with neck arched and tail held erect. He is truly a "dog for all seasons," suiting the need for household guardian, attractive companion, and children's playmate and loyal friend.

Our Story

We brought home our first Boxer (a white bitch we named Ivory) in 1989 and we haven't looked back.  Since that time, our home has not been without at least one Boxer, and more often than not, several.

While we enjoy showing and breeding, our personal dogs are pets (with a job).  They live in the house with our family, spending as much time as possible (someone has to work to buy dog food!) just hanging out -- playing with their box of toys in the living room or chasing each other around the yard while the humans try to get something done.  Our home is located on a little more than one acre, so there is lots of room for a Boxer to exercise.

While we took a break from actively showing and breeding before starting up again. We are excited for the future of Kandiyohi Boxers, now located in sunny Central Arizona.

While our personal focus is on showing and breeding, that is not the destiny of every Boxer born here.  We understand the value of a well-bred companion and do our utmost to start every puppy born here off right.  There is no difference in how a potential show puppy and a companion puppy are raised, because we believe that EVERY dog is ultimately a companion.

We are members of the Granite City Kennel Club and the Minnesota Boxer Club.

A New Start

Having lived my entire life in Minnesota, moving to Arizona has been profoundly life-altering. As we embrace the rugged beauty of Arizona, we have named our homestead Ocotillo Tree Ranch (OTR) and it seems natural to make this transition with the dogs too. Starting with the 2024-2025 planned litters, I will be transitioning my “kennel name” by which dogs of my breeding are recognized from Kandiyohi to OTR Boxers. Same bloodlines, same breeding philosophy, same dedication and love for the breed, just a new (and shorter) name, providing more flexibility in naming prospects and signifying a “before” and “after”.
